Abstract: We examined military experience of executives and the impact of this particular background on corporate performance, including sales growth, cost efficiency and operating performance, under industrial competitive pressure. We found that military executives have better corporate performance main found in high competitive industries. Furthermore, we identified whether or not military executives achieve higher performance at the expense of product quality and workplace safety. We found that military executives have fewer product recall cases and workplace safety accidences under industrial competitive pressure, even with the financial constraint.
